What is this program?
For grades 7-12, we are a study group in three subjects (English, Maths, & Science) that meets one week per month for nine modules from September to May. For 3 weeks, students begin interacting with new material while at home – completing work from their books, watching videos, or completing various online assignments. Then, during our Community Week, students meet face-to-face with their teacher and other students to receive further instruction, perform group tasks, and complete assessments. We encourage students from various locations throughout the country to consider being a part of this learning community.
What is the cost of this program?
We try and keep out tuition costs at a minimum. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the price is Rs. 40,000 per month per child. The price has not been set yet for next academic year.
What extracurricular activities are offered?
The short answer is none. Due to the need to cover all the material in a week, the Upper Academy is in session from 9am – 4:30pm, so there is little time for other activities. Although we do not have a Music, Art, or Sports program, we encourage parents to involve their children in these activities during the three weeks at home. We do attempt to arrange one evening social gathering during each Community Week
Are you accredited?
We are not. We believe accreditation is beneficial, however, the nature of our program does not lend itself to an easy accreditation process. Therefore, we would advise those who need an accredited diploma to seek another schooling option.
Do you accept students with special needs?
Students with special needs are evaluated on a case by case basis. We provide no specially trained teachers or guaranteed plans, but every teacher will make accommodations as they are able. Due to the special and intense nature of this system (one intense week a month), it may be more difficult for students with special needs than at a regular school.
